The Unveiling Ceremony and Seminar of the Institute of Environmental Energy Materials and Intelligent Equipment were Held in our University

On the morning of May 23, The unveiling ceremony and seminar of the Institute of Environmental Energy Materials and Intelligent Equipment of CQUST were held in front of the production and education integration building of our school. Zou Zhigang, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Zhou Yong, member of the Royal Society of chemistry(UK); Zhao Mingjie, the president of the university, and the principal members of the Institute and representatives of teachers and students attended the ceremony.

Mr. Zou Zhigang of Chinese Academy of Sciences and President Zhao Mingjie of CQUST unveiled the Institute. Zhao Mingjie said that the construction of the Institute of Environmental Energy Materials and Intelligent Equipment is an important measure for the university to implement the new development philosophy and contribute to the national carbon peak carbon neutralization strategies. The establishment of the institute should produce national projects and achievements, and become a talent highland and innovation highland in the field of photocatalytic materials; We should make a difference in promoting industry-university-research cooperation, strengthen university-business cooperation and university-local community cooperation, and support the sustainable development of industry; We should promote the integrated development of new materials, artificial intelligence, big data and other disciplines, and improve the engineering practice ability and innovation ability of students majoring in related disciplines.

Zou Zhigang pointed out in his speech that the inter-disciplinary cross-integration layout of the Environmental Energy Materials and Intelligent Equipment Research Institute will achieve win-win results in many aspects such as training talents, upgrading disciplines, promoting development of the university and better serving the society. As the chief expert of the research institute, he expressed the hope that the construction and development of the research institute will first seize the opportunity, focus on the core "bottleneck" technology and frontier scientific and technological problems, and strive to make a batch of leading scientific research achievements. Second, he said, we should work hard, pursue excellence, and promote the transformation of science and technology into real productive forces; thirdly, he said we should strengthen management, be good at finding talents, selecting talents fairly, and use talents bravely, so as to form a harmonious situation in which all kinds of talents work together for achievements.

Zou Zhigang and Zhou Yong visited the studio and the site of the Institute of Environmental Energy Materials and Intelligent Equipment, listened to the briefing about the laboratory construction of the Institute of Environmental Energy Materials and Intelligent Equipment, kindly guided Lu Shiyu and Peng Peng, two young talents of China Association for Science and Technology, and put forward suggestions on taking root in Chongqing University of Science and Technology, devoting themselves to scientific research and being neither arrogant nor impetuous. They hoped that the two young talents would work hard and practice hard, care about "national affairs" and shoulder "national responsibilities."

On the afternoon of May 23, a seminar on the construction of Environmental Energy Materials and Intelligent Equipment Research Institute was held in Conference Room 105 of the university office building. Zou Zhigang, member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhou Yong, member of Royal Society of Chemistry(UK), Zhao Mingjie, CQUST president, heads of relevant functional departments , management of School of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering and principal members of the research institute attended the seminar. Professor Cai Wei, deputy dean of the School of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, introduced the direction of materials science and engineering discipline of our university.

Mr. Zou Zhigang carefully guided the construction of Materials Science and Engineering Discipline and Environmental Energy Materials and Intelligent Equipment Research Institute of our university, and he pointed out that: The second is to strengthen engineering thinking. The research institute shall rely on its advantages to promote the engineering of applied basic research, do organized research, support the industrialization development and form new technologies. Third, in line with the needs of the country and of local community, we should carry out government-industry-university-research cooperation, promote the collaborative innovation and development of industry and university, make concerted efforts and unite as one, innovate mechanism and system, and achieve new development.

It is known that the Research Institute of Environmental Energy Materials and Intelligent Equipment of Chongqing University of Science and Technology was established by relying on top-class academicians who spearheaded the research team. The university has invested 35 million yuan in three years to build three R & D platforms, including photocatalytic environmental materials and intelligent equipment, photocatalytic ceramic materials R & D and application, photocatalytic energy materials and advanced technologies, striving to build an advantageous position in the research and development as well as commercial application of photocatalytic environmental materials and intelligent equipment and hydrogen energy and fuel.
